Painting offers me the practical and metaphorical reminder that there are always opportunities to move forward and change. Working primarily with acrylics, there is no such thing as a “mistake”. I add another layer, another texture, and the painting gradually emerges. Using acrylic paint, collaged materials, pencils, oil pastels, and other materials, I will often have ten or more layers of media, with the more subterranean layers peeking through to add depth and texture. I enjoy the interplay of complements and the use of grayed colors against bright. I jump in with both feet, and have been called fearless by my contemporaries because of a tendency to paint fast and with great enthusiasm. Each painting is a journey, a challenge, and a wonder. Painting is my passion!
Sherry was this year’s winner of the national art label design competition hosted by The Capital Grille in conjunction with Share Our Strength. The Capital Grille has raised more than a million dollars to fight childhood hunger.
The winning art, “Golden Moments”, was chosen for it’s layered colors that emulate the complex flavors of the Arrowood Cabernet Sauvignon. The limited edition wine will have the unique piece of original artwork by Sherry as its label while it supports Share Our Strength. For each bottle of wine sold, The Capital Grille will donate $25.00 to Share Our Strength.
Sherry’s artwork will be traveling across America during 2013. CONGRATULATIONS to Sherry!!! Lucky Fish Gallery is proud to represent this talented artist!
