Mi Sun Kim
Her work, deeply influenced by global cultures and rooted in her Korean heritage, blends natural forms and minimalistic essence to create art that brings a sense of nature into people’s homes.
I was fortunate enough to see the world growing up as a diplomat’s kid. My work is heavily influenced by many different cultures; however, I always incorporate my Korean heritage into each of my pieces. It has always been a part of me, even when I was far away from home.
With natural and sculptural forms, I explore shapes and textures while still maintaining a minimalistic essence. As our surroundings are rooted in nature. Like my Korean name, Mi (美) Sun (宣), meaning “beautiful” and “giving,” I try to create beautiful, natural works that give back to people; like bringing a piece of nature into their homes.
